Welcome to the first interview on My Own Join, a public recognition initiative designed to showcase the social contributions of the average Deltan to his community.

The following Interview was done with Trisha Okwuezolu, a 26 year old native of Aboh, Ndokwa East LGA of Delta State. She is making sure "Her Own Join" in helping to develop the people of Delta State.

MOJ:     Hello, could you please introduce yourself to us?

Trisha: My name is Trisha Okwuezolu. I’m 26 years of age and a native of Aboh, Ndokwa-East LGA of Delta State.

MOJ:     And what do you do as a career and in your spare time?

Trisha:   Well I’m currently pursuing my Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Microbiology and Brewery at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and I work part-time as a Project Assistant for the Society for Family Health.

MOJ:     That’s interesting, so what exactly does the Society for Family Health do?

Trisha:   SFH is a non-governmental organization which specializes in providing Nigerians with access to quality Reproductive Health and Family Planning services, particularly the poor. We basically empower them to live healthier and better lives.

MOJ:     I see, and what exactly does a Project Assistant do at SFH?

Trisha:  I actually work on a per project basis to assist SFH and their affiliate organizations in distributing sterilizing equipment, contraceptives, examination couches, storage cabinets etc for free to clinics in the target communities.

MOJ:     Interesting, and does the government support SFH in its activities?

Trisha:   Definitely, we get a lot of support from the Ministry of Health as well as local and international philanthropic organizations, which is why we are able to provide all these equipment to the clinics for free.

MOJ:     Wow! That practically makes you an apprentice Mother Theresa working to give Deltan families a better life.

Trisha: {Laughs} Mother Theresa ke?! No, I’m just grateful for the opportunity to do what I enjoy.

MOJ:     But seriously, that is quite commendable for one so young. True true Your Own Join, in playing a significant part in the development of your community and Delta state as a whole. Thank you very much for granting us audience.

Trisha: It’s been my pleasure and thank you for all your compliments.

MOJ:     You’re most welcome.
