At last Hon. Solomon Funkekeme has made it to the Commissioners list and he also got a vern juicy portfolio to boot. But it was only to be expected for the former House of Assemblyman, who practically gave his all to ensure that Governor Uduaghan returned for a second term. He has been an Uduaghan man right from his days in the DTHA and many Delta watchers have claimed that his decision not to contest for any elective position in 2011, was informed by the fact that he wanted to devote his complete time and energies to the re-election of Governor Uduaghan without any distractions. The fact that he has been deployed to the Ministry of Works, is a testimony to the appreciation of Governor Uduaghan for the tireless hardwork of ‘Ogiribo’ (the whirlwind) as he is fondly called by his admirers. It is also an indication of the huge importance which the governor intends to give to his major construction projects, including the dualization of the Asaba-Kwale-Ughelli-Warri expressway, which are expected to create tons of jobs for Deltans in the next four years.
