A Lawyer and Psychologist, Chike C. Ogeah has had a distinguished Career in the Management of Public and Private Institutions culminating in his overseeing the privatization of Skypower Aviation Handling Company. He served as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company between December 2006 and May 2010. He initiated and delivered the privatization of the Company in which the Federal Government of Nigeria divested its holding in the Company to a new core investor, Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited.
Born on October 23, 1961, Ogeah obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Lagos in 1983 and returned to the same University to study Law which he completed in 1988. He was called to the Bar in 1990 on passing out of the Nigerian Law School.
An accomplished Aviation Professional, the Honourable Commissioner for Information became a Director with Skyway Aviation Handling Company post privatization between 2010 and April 2011. He became the Vice Chairman of the Company in April 2011, a position he held until his appointment as Delta State Commissioner for Information. Earlier, Ogeah had worked in the Office of the Millennium Development Goals in the Presidency, Abuja as a Facilitating Consultant between August 2005 and February 2007. His responsibilities included developing the Millennium Development Goals in Nigeria, linking them to Policy Reforms; devising a framework in which these goals are used in strengthening governance in Nigeria by liberating the creative energies of the people; highlighting the 2005 Millennium Development Goals report for Nigeria through a participatory process; and utilizing baseline data input and civil society feedback.
Between January 2004 and August 2005, the Honourable Commissioner for Information was with the State Economic Empowerment Development Strategies unit of the National Planning Commission as National Coordinator. As National Coordinator, he supported the Economic Adviser to ensure effective briefing and training of all relevant NPC Staff in relation to the SEEDS process, to coordinate capacity building efforts and strengthen NPC’s ability to deliver support to the SEEDS process throughput the Federation.
His responsibilities also included liaising with each State SEEDS coordinating teams to ensure adequate support in preparation SEEDS and implementation of the SEEDS documents. Maintain a database of all States SEEDS documents and a schedule / understanding of the level of preparedness of the documents. Periodically brief the EA on the status of the SEEDS documents and bring any issues to his attention.
As a Special Assistant in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the President and Coordinator International Cooperation Department (The Presidency), Abuja, January 2004 - December 2004, Ogeah was part of the team that provided expert knowledge and hands on guidance on procedures to the Economic Adviser in respect of all international donors especially Europeans Development Funds( EDF) projects and issues in order to minimize the Economic Adviser’s involvement with routine administrative work.
He also liaised on behalf of the EA with Nigeria Development Partners, such as World Bank, UNDP, EU, USAID, J1CA among others on matters relating to their programmes and activities in Nigeria.
As a Legal Practitioner, he was the Principal Partner of Chike Ogeah and Co in Lagos between June 2001 to December 2003.
Between June 1999 and June 2001, he was a Special Assistant in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the President, National Planning Commission, Abuja. Here, he coordinated on behalf of the Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), the Nigeria/United States of America Joint Economic Partnership Committee (JEPC) which was held in July 2000 in Abuja and November 2000 in Washington DC.
He also collated and compiled the Nigerian Economic Policy 1999 - 2003 and jointly planned, coordinated and hosted the 6th Nigerian Economic Summit (1999).He was also a member of the Steering Committee on Delta State Vision 2020. He has attended numerous seminars, workshops and conferences both within and outside Nigeria where he presented professional papers on many subjects.
Ogeah is happily married to Funke and they are blessed with childen.
